Community Basic Info
Section titled “Community Basic Info”This is Step 3 of the community creation flow. Here you give your community its identity — a name, description, and visual branding through a profile image and cover photo.
How to Get There
Section titled “How to Get There”Communities > + Create > Category > Select Category > Basic Info
- Start the Create Community flow.
- Select a category in Steps 1-2.
- You arrive at the Basic Info screen (Step 3 of 4).
Step Indicator
Section titled “Step Indicator”The header shows “Basic Info” with “STEP 3 OF 4” below it, so you always know where you are in the flow.
Form Fields
Section titled “Form Fields”Community Name (Required)
Section titled “Community Name (Required)”Type a clear, recognisable name for your community.
- Maximum 30 characters — keep it concise
- This is the primary identifier guests and members will see
- Choose something specific and memorable

Description (Optional)
Section titled “Description (Optional)”Write a brief overview of your community’s purpose. This text appears on the community profile and helps potential members understand what the community is about.
Profile Image and Cover Photo
Section titled “Profile Image and Cover Photo”Profile Image
Section titled “Profile Image”Upload a square image that represents your community — typically a logo, emblem, or group photo.
- Tap the profile image placeholder.
- Choose Gallery to pick from your photos or Camera to take a new photo.
- The image uploads to the server immediately.
Recommended:
- Square aspect ratio (1:1)
- Minimum 200 x 200 px
- Formats: JPG, PNG
Cover Photo
Section titled “Cover Photo”Upload a wide banner image that appears at the top of your community profile.
- Tap the cover photo area.
- Select an image from your gallery or take a new photo.
- The image uploads and a preview appears.
Recommended:
- Wide aspect ratio (16:9 or similar)
- Minimum 1280 x 720 px
- Formats: JPG, PNG
Pre-filled Data
Section titled “Pre-filled Data”If you navigate back and then return to this screen, your previously entered data is preserved:
- Community name and description auto-populate from the form state
- Previously uploaded images are displayed
Continuing to the Next Step
Section titled “Continuing to the Next Step”- Ensure the community name is filled in (required).
- Tap the Continue button at the bottom of the screen.
- You are taken to Community Settings (Step 4 of 4).
The Continue button is pinned to the bottom of the screen for easy access even on long scrolling forms.
Guidance Text
Section titled “Guidance Text”The screen header reminds you:
“Let’s get started”
“Create a space for your people to come together. You can change these details later.”
All fields (except the name) can be updated after creation through the Edit Community screen.

Section titled “Troubleshooting”The Continue button is disabled. The community name field is required and must not be empty. Enter a name (max 30 characters) to enable the button.
My image upload failed. Check your internet connection and try again. Ensure the image is under 10 MB and in JPG or PNG format.
I entered data but it disappeared when I came back. Form state is preserved within the current creation flow. If you exited the entire flow (went back to the Communities List), the data resets. Start the creation process again.
The character limit is too short for my community name. The 30-character limit ensures names display well across all screen sizes. Use abbreviations if needed (e.g., “RSRPWA” instead of the full association name) and put the full name in the description.
