Group Chats: Staying on Top of Every Event Conversation

Section titled “Group Chats: Staying on Top of Every Event Conversation”

Your Groups tab is where all your event group chats live: the wedding family group, the crew coordinating a college fest, the volunteer team for a Diwali mela. This article shows you how to find, open, and organise those groups.

How to get there: Dashboard > Connect > Groups

  1. Open the Groups tab to see all your groups.
  2. Tap the Search groups… box at the top.
  3. Type part of the group name, for example Sangeet or Vendors.
  4. Tap the clear icon to see the full list again.

Groups are ordered the way you’d expect: pinned ones first, then whichever chat had the most recent message. A badge on a group shows how many messages you haven’t read yet.

How to get there: Dashboard > Connect > Groups > Group invitations

  1. Look for the Group invitations row at the top of the list, with a count of groups waiting for you.
  2. Tap the row to open your invitations.
  3. Review the group and respond to the invite.

The row only appears when you have at least one invitation pending.

  1. Tap any group to open the conversation.
  2. Tap the group’s picture to see it full size.
  3. Pull down on the list to refresh it if something looks out of date.

On a tablet or wide screen, tapping a group opens the chat beside the list, so you can jump between conversations without going back each time.

How to get there: Dashboard > Connect > Groups > press and hold a group

  1. Press and hold the group you want to manage.
  2. Choose an action from the sheet that appears.
  3. Tap Group Info to see members and group details.

  • Create a Group - Set up a new group for family, crew, or vendors.
  • Group Info and Members - Add, remove, and review who’s in a group.
  • Archived Chats - Find conversations you moved out of your list.
  • Message Requests and Invitations - Respond to invites from people outside your events.
  • Direct Messages - One-to-one chats with guests and vendors.
  • Notification Settings - Control what alerts you get and when.
  • Switching Between Events - Change which event’s groups you see.

“No groups yet” - You aren’t in any group for the event you have selected. Create a group, or switch to the event where your groups live.

“No results found” - Your search doesn’t match any group name. Search only looks at group names, not messages, so try a shorter word.

“Failed to load groups” - Your connection dropped mid-load. Check your network and pull down on the list to retry.

A group invitation isn’t showing - Invitations appear only after the list refreshes. Pull down to refresh, and confirm the invite went to the phone number or email you signed in with.

A group disappeared from the list - It was most likely archived, or it belongs to a different event. Check your archived chats, then switch events.

Unread counts look wrong - Counts update as messages arrive. Pull down to refresh, and reopen the group to mark it as read.
