Announcements
Section titled “Announcements”The Announcements tab in Velora Connect is your news feed for important broadcast messages from event organisers and community admins. Every announcement sent in your current workspace appears here.
How to Get There
Section titled “How to Get There”Home > Connect > Announcements tab
- Open the Velora app and tap Connect in the bottom navigation.
- Tap the Announcements tab (megaphone icon) at the top of the screen.
- The announcement feed loads for your current workspace.
What You Will See
Section titled “What You Will See”Search Bar
Section titled “Search Bar”At the top of the feed, a search bar lets you find specific announcements:
- Search by title or content keywords
- Results filter in real time as you type
- Tap the X button to clear the search
Announcement Cards
Section titled “Announcement Cards”Each announcement appears as a card in the feed, similar to a chat conversation tile:

| Megaphone icon | Identifies the item as an announcement (not a regular message) |
| Title | The announcement headline |
| Preview | First 80 characters of the announcement body |
| Timestamp | When the announcement was sent (time, day name, or date) |
| Unread badge | A dot or badge appears for announcements you have not read |
Timestamp Format
Section titled “Timestamp Format”Timestamps adapt based on age:
- Today: Shows time (e.g., “2:30 PM”)
- This week: Shows day name (e.g., “Tue”)
- Older: Shows date (e.g., “15/3”)
Reading Announcements
Section titled “Reading Announcements”- Tap any announcement card to open the full detail view.
- The announcement is automatically marked as read.
- The unread badge disappears from the card.
Pull to Refresh
Section titled “Pull to Refresh”Swipe down on the announcement list to refresh from the server. This is useful when:
- You just joined the workspace and want to load older announcements
- Another admin may have sent a new announcement
- You suspect a connectivity issue delayed delivery
Empty States
Section titled “Empty States”| Scenario | What You See |
|---|---|
| No announcements | ”No announcements yet — Announcements from your workspace will appear here” |
| Search with no results | ”No announcements found — Try a different search term” |
| Loading error | Error message with a “Retry” button |
Reply Count
Section titled “Reply Count”Some announcements show a reply count, indicating that members have responded or commented on the announcement. Tap the announcement to view and add replies.

Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”I do not see any announcements. Make sure you are in the correct workspace. Tap the workspace name at the top of the Connect screen to switch workspaces. Announcements are workspace-specific.
An announcement is marked as unread but I already read it. Pull down to refresh the feed. If the badge persists, open the announcement detail view to trigger the read confirmation.
The feed shows a loading error. Check your internet connection and tap the Retry button. If the error persists, close and reopen the Velora app.
I cannot see old announcements. The feed loads recent announcements first. Scroll down to load older items. If announcements are missing, the workspace admin may have been changed or the workspace was recreated.
