Viewing Someone’s Profile in Chat
Section titled “Viewing Someone’s Profile in Chat”When you tap a name in a Velora conversation, you land on their profile: their photo, name, status, and everything you can do next. Use it to start a direct chat, revisit shared files, or block someone who is disrupting your event group.
Opening a Profile
Section titled “Opening a Profile”How to get there: Chat > Conversation > tap a person’s name or photo
- Open any conversation or group chat in Velora.
- Tap the person’s name or profile photo.
- Wait a moment while their details load.
- Review their photo, display name, and status message.
If they have set a custom status, like an emoji plus a short note, it appears just under their name. This is handy during busy weeks: a vendor showing ”🚗 On the way” tells you more than a phone call.
Starting a Direct Conversation
Section titled “Starting a Direct Conversation”How to get there: Chat > Conversation > tap a name > Send Message
- Open the person’s profile.
- Tap Send Message.
- Wait for the chat to open. The button shows a spinner while it works.
- Type your message and send it.
This opens a private one-to-one chat, separate from the group. Great for confidential details you do not want the whole group to see.
Reviewing Shared Media, Links and Documents
Section titled “Reviewing Shared Media, Links and Documents”How to get there: Chat > Direct message > tap a name > Media, links and docs
- Open the profile from inside a direct conversation.
- Tap Media, links and docs.
- Browse everything the two of you have exchanged in that chat.
This entry appears only when you reach the profile from a direct conversation. It is the fastest way to find a quotation PDF or a venue photo sent three weeks ago, without scrolling the whole thread.
Blocking or Unblocking Someone
Section titled “Blocking or Unblocking Someone”How to get there: Chat > Conversation > tap a name > Block User
- Open the person’s profile.
- Tap Block User.
- Read the confirmation message that names the person.
- Tap Block to confirm, or Cancel to back out.
To reverse it, return to the same profile and tap Unblock User. No confirmation is needed to unblock.

Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”“User not found” - The profile could not load, usually because the account was removed or your connection dropped. Go back, check your network, and tap the name again.
“Failed to start conversation” - The direct chat could not open. This is often a brief network issue: wait a moment and tap Send Message again.
The Send Message button does nothing - It is disabled while the chat is being created. Watch for the small spinner and let it finish rather than tapping repeatedly.
Media, links and docs is missing - This option only appears when you open the profile from a direct conversation. Open the one-to-one chat first, then tap their name.
Block User is greyed out - A previous block or unblock is still saving. Give it a second and try again.
No status shows under the name - Not everyone sets one, and custom statuses can take a moment to appear. An empty space simply means nothing has been shared.
