Replying in a Thread

Threads keep a side conversation attached to the message that started it. Use them when one message needs a proper discussion, without the main chat turning into chaos.

Prerequisites

You need to be a member of a channel, group, or direct chat with at least one message in it.

Opening a Thread

How to get there: Chat > open a conversation > tap the reply thread on a message

1. Open the channel, group, or direct chat that has the message.
2. Tap the thread on the message you want to discuss.
3. Read the original message shown at the top of the screen, so you always know what the discussion is about.
4. Scroll the replies to catch up. The newest reply sits at the bottom.

Note

The header shows Thread plus a short preview of the original message. Long messages are shortened in the header but appear in full just below it.

Posting a Reply

How to get there: Chat > open a conversation > tap a message thread

1. Tap the message box at the bottom of the screen.
2. Type your reply.
3. Tap the send button.
4. Wait for the send indicator to finish. Your reply appears at the bottom of the list.

Tip

Threads are perfect for vendor coordination. Instead of five people replying to “Caterer quote is ₹850 per plate” in the main channel, keep the whole back-and-forth in one thread and the channel stays readable.

Caution

Thread replies are text only for now. If you record a voice note here, you will see a message telling you it is not supported yet. Send voice notes in the main conversation instead.

Next Best Action

After the thread reaches a decision, most organizers:

• For vendor decisions: post the final amount back in the main channel so nobody has to reopen the thread
• For task handoffs: assign it to a team member so it does not get lost in chat

Reacting, Copying, and Following Links

How to get there: Any open thread

1. Tap a reaction under a reply to add yours. Tap it again to remove it.
2. Press and hold a reply to copy its text. You will see Message copied.
3. Tap a name mentioned in a reply to open that person’s profile.
4. Tap an event card shared in a reply to open the full event details.

Tip

Reactions are the fastest way to close a thread. A thumbs up on “Booking the mandap decorator for 12 Nov” saves ten “ok confirmed” replies.

Troubleshooting

“Failed to load replies” - Your connection dropped or the conversation could not be reached. Tap Retry. If it keeps failing, close and reopen the conversation.

“No replies yet” - Nobody has replied in this thread. Be the first one, and everyone following the original message can join in.

“Voice notes aren’t supported in thread replies yet” - Threads accept typed text only. Send the voice note in the main conversation and mention what it relates to.

Your reply seems stuck sending - The send indicator stays active while the reply is on its way. Check your connection; on patchy venue wifi, switch to mobile data and try again.

A reply shows the sender as “Unknown” - The sender’s profile could not be loaded, usually a temporary connection issue. Reopen the thread and the name should appear.

The original message looks cut off in the header - Only the header preview is shortened. The full message is always shown at the top of the reply list.
