Outgoing Call
Placing a Call from Chat
Section titled “Placing a Call from Chat”When you tap the call button in a Velora chat, this is the screen you see while the other person’s phone rings. It works for both voice and video calls, so you can reach a vendor, a co-organizer, or a guest without leaving the app.
Starting a Call and Waiting for an Answer
Section titled “Starting a Call and Waiting for an Answer”How to get there: Dashboard > Chats > open a conversation > tap the voice or video call button
- Open the chat with the person you want to call.
- Tap the voice call or video call button.
- Allow microphone access if you are asked (and camera access for video calls).
- Wait while the screen shows the person’s photo, their name, and Calling…
- Watch for Connecting… - this means they picked up and the call is about to start.
For a video call, your own camera preview fills the background so you can check your framing and lighting before the other person joins. Voice calls show a plain dark screen instead.
Adjusting Your Setup Before They Answer
Section titled “Adjusting Your Setup Before They Answer”How to get there: The rounded control bar at the bottom of the calling screen
- Tap the microphone icon to start the call muted. It turns red when muted, and you stay muted once the call connects.
- Tap the camera icon on a video call to hide your preview before the other person sees you.
- Tap the flip camera icon to switch between your front and rear cameras.
- Tap the red end call button to cancel before they answer.
When Nobody Answers
Section titled “When Nobody Answers”If the call rings for a minute without an answer, Velora stops ringing and shows No answer. You then have two choices.
- Tap Close to go back to the chat.
- Tap Call Again to ring the same person once more, using the same call type.
Leaving the Calling Screen
Section titled “Leaving the Calling Screen”- Tap the down arrow at the top left to cancel the call and return to your chat.
- Or use your device’s back gesture, which also cancels the call.

Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”“No answer” - The call rang for a minute with no pickup, so Velora ended it. Tap Call Again, or send a message instead.
“Calling…” never changes - The other person may be offline or have notifications muted. Cancel the call and message them to agree on a time.
Your video preview stays blank or grey - Camera permission is off, or another app is using the camera. Close other camera apps, then check permissions in your device settings.
Nothing happens when you tap Call Again - Permissions are rechecked each time you place a call. Approve the microphone or camera prompt to continue.
The ringing sound does not play - Ringtones follow your device’s volume and silent mode. Raise the media volume or switch off silent mode.
The call drops as soon as it connects - A weak connection at the venue is the usual cause. Switch to Wi-Fi or move outdoors, then call again.
