Face Recognition Settings

Velora can automatically identify you in event photos using face recognition technology. This guide explains how to manage this feature, including enabling, disabling, and viewing your stored face data.

Home > Profile tab > Settings > Face Recognition

The Face Recognition settings screen has two main controls:

A switch that controls whether Velora’s face recognition is active for your account.

StateWhat it means
On (enabled)Velora will identify your face in photos taken at events you attend
Off (disabled)Velora will not attempt to identify you in any photos

A navigation card that takes you to view the face data Velora has stored for you. This card is:

  • Active (tappable) — if you have previously provided face data
  • Greyed out — if you have never set up face recognition

There are two scenarios when you turn on the toggle:

If you have never set up face recognition before:

  1. Tap the toggle to turn it on.
  2. Velora navigates you to the Face Data Setup screen where you provide your face data.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to capture your face.
  4. Once complete, face recognition is enabled and active.

If you have previously set up face data and are turning it back on:

  1. Tap the toggle to turn it on.
  2. A brief loading indicator appears while the setting is updated.
  3. Face recognition is re-enabled using your existing face data — no need to set up again.

If you want to stop Velora from identifying you in photos:

  1. Tap the toggle to turn it off.
  2. A brief loading indicator appears.
  3. Face recognition is disabled immediately.

To see what face data Velora has stored:

  1. Tap “View Face Data” on the settings screen.
  2. The face data viewer opens, showing the reference image(s) used for recognition.
  3. From here, you can review or manage your stored data.

This option is only available if you have previously provided face data (the consent has been accepted). If you have never set up face recognition, this card appears greyed out and is not tappable.

Face recognition on Velora is entirely opt-in:

The toggle does not respond when I tap it. Check if a loading indicator is visible — the feature might be processing a previous request. Wait a few seconds and try again. If the issue persists, go back to the settings screen and return to face recognition settings.

Face recognition is enabled but I do not see any “Photos of Me.” Face recognition only works on photos from events where you are registered as an attendee and where the event photographer has uploaded photos to Velora. Check that you have attended events with active photo uploads.

The “View Face Data” card is greyed out. You have not set up face recognition yet. Tap the toggle to enable it and go through the first-time setup process. After completing the setup, the View Face Data card becomes active.

I want to completely delete my face data. Disable the toggle first, then use the View Face Data screen to manage your stored data. If you need complete deletion, contact Velora support with your request.

Error message appears when toggling the switch. This is usually a network issue. Check your internet connection and try again. The setting update requires a server call, so a stable connection is needed.
