Conversation Search

Use the message search feature to quickly find specific messages, links, or topics within any conversation - whether it’s a channel, direct message, group chat, or announcement thread. Perfect when you need to dig up vendor contact details, budget numbers, or guest confirmations buried in weeks of back-and-forth.

How to get there: Open any conversation (channel, DM, group, or announcement) → Tap the Search icon (magnifying glass)

The search screen opens with a text field ready for your query. You’ll see a helpful reminder: “Type to search within this conversation.”

  1. Tap the search field at the top of the screen.
  2. Type your search term: a vendor name, date, amount, or any keyword (e.g., venue confirmation, ₹50000, Sharma caterers).
  3. Wait 0.5 seconds: the app automatically searches as you type. A loading spinner appears while searching.
  4. Review the results: matching messages appear as cards showing:
    • Sender’s name (who sent the message)
    • Message preview with your search term highlighted in bold
    • Timestamp (time of day, yesterday, day of week, or full date)

When you find the message you need:

  1. Tap the result card: the app takes you back to the conversation and scrolls directly to that message.
  2. Review the context: you’ll see messages before and after it to understand the full discussion.

This saves you from manually scrolling through hundreds of messages. Especially helpful for wedding planning when vendor details are scattered across days of chat.

  • Tap the ✕ icon in the search field to clear your current search and start fresh.
  • Tap the back arrow to close search and return to the conversation. Your search history is cleared automatically.
SituationHow to Fix It
Message was deletedDeleted messages don’t appear in search. Check if the sender removed it.
Typo in search termTry a shorter keyword or different spelling (e.g., search venu instead of venue if unsure).
Message is very oldSearch still finds old messages - scroll through results or try a more specific keyword.
Wrong conversationMake sure you’re searching within the correct channel or DM. Search only works in one conversation at a time.
