Create Your First Event

Creating an event on Velora takes under five minutes. This guide walks you through every step from opening the create screen to publishing your event page.

Make sure you have:

  • A Velora account. Sign up at velora.events, or get the app: Android · iPhone and iPad
  • The basic event details ready: name, date, time, and venue
  • An optional cover photo (recommended size: 1920 x 1080 px)

  1. Open the Velora app and log in to your account.
  2. On the home screen, tap the + button in the bottom navigation bar, or tap Create Event from your organizer dashboard.
  3. The Create Event screen opens with a blank form.

Tip: You can also access Create Event from your profile menu under My Events > New Event.

Fill in the core information about your event.

Type a clear, memorable name. This is what guests will see first.

  • Keep it under 80 characters for best display across devices.
  • Avoid generic names like “Party” - be specific, e.g. “Sharma Family Reunion 2026”.

Select the category that best describes your event from the dropdown:

  • Wedding
  • Corporate
  • Birthday
  • Conference
  • Festival
  • Workshop
  • Other

The category helps guests discover your event and influences the default form template Velora suggests.

  1. Tap the Date field and pick the start date from the calendar.
  2. Tap Time and set the start time.
  3. Toggle Multi-day event if your event spans more than one day, then set the end date.
  4. Set the Timezone - Velora auto-detects your device timezone but you can override it.

Choose how guests will attend:

ModeWhen to use
In-personPhysical location: enter address or search on map
OnlineVirtual event: enter a meeting link (Zoom, Google Meet, etc.)
HybridBoth physical and virtual attendance

For in-person events, tap Search Location and type the venue name or address. Velora uses Google Maps to autocomplete and store GPS coordinates.

Enter the maximum number of attendees. Set to Unlimited if there is no cap.

Note: Capacity limits are enforced across ticket types. If you sell 200 General tickets and 50 VIP tickets, set capacity to 250 or higher.

The description appears on your event page and in guest invitations. Write a few sentences that answer:

  • What is the event about?
  • Who should attend?
  • What will guests experience?

You can use basic formatting: bold, italic, bullet lists, and headings. Velora renders markdown in the description field.

A cover photo makes your event stand out. To add one:

  1. Tap Add Cover Photo.
  2. Choose Upload from Gallery or Take Photo.
  3. Crop and position the image using the editor.
  4. Tap Done.

Recommended specifications:

  • Aspect ratio: 16:9
  • Minimum resolution: 1280 x 720 px
  • Maximum file size: 10 MB
  • Formats: JPG, PNG, WebP

Tip: Avoid adding text to cover photos - it may be clipped on smaller screens. Put important details in the event title and description instead.

Control who can see your event:

VisibilityWho can see it
PublicAnyone with the link, discoverable in search
UnlistedAnyone with the direct link, not discoverable in search
PrivateOnly people you explicitly invite

Most community events start as Unlisted and switch to Public once the details are finalized.

You have two options at this point:

Tap Save Draft to store the event without making it visible to guests. Use drafts when you are still confirming details. You can return and edit a draft at any time from My Events.

Tap Publish when the event is ready for guests.

  • Velora shows a confirmation summary - review the details.
  • Tap Confirm & Publish.
  • Your event page goes live immediately.
  • You receive a shareable event link.

Once published, Velora gives you access to your Event Dashboard where you can:

  • Share the event link via WhatsApp, email, or social media
  • Add paid or free tickets
  • Attach a registration form
  • Manage the guest list and check-ins
  • Track RSVPs in real time

  • Lock in your date first. Guests often commit based on the date alone - publish early even if other details are not finalized.
  • Use a strong cover photo. Events with cover photos receive significantly more RSVPs than those without.
  • Test the guest experience. After publishing, open the event link in an incognito browser window to see exactly what guests see.
  • Draft first, polish later. Create a draft as soon as you have the name and date, then fill in details over time. Velora auto-saves every change.

Can I edit an event after publishing? Yes. Most fields can be edited after publishing. Velora sends an update notification to guests who have already RSVP’d when you change the date, time, or venue.

Can I unpublish an event? Yes. Go to Event Dashboard > Settings > Visibility and switch to Draft or Private. Guests who have already RSVP’d will see a “Event details updated” notification.

What happens if I exceed capacity? Velora automatically stops accepting new registrations once the capacity limit is reached and moves new guests to a waitlist.

Is there a limit on how many events I can create? Free accounts can create up to 3 active events simultaneously. Upgrade to Velora Pro for unlimited active events.
