New Chat
Starting a New Chat
Section titled “Starting a New Chat”The New chat screen is where every conversation begins. Pick one person for a direct message, pick several to spin up a group, or jump straight into creating a channel or announcement for your event or community.
Message One Person
Section titled “Message One Person”How to get there: Connect > New chat
- Tap the New chat icon from your Connect screen.
- Scroll the MEMBERS list, or type a name into the To: search box.
- Tap the person you want. A tick appears on their photo.
- Tap Message at the bottom to open the conversation.
Create a Group Chat
Section titled “Create a Group Chat”How to get there: Connect > New chat
- Tap the first person you want in the group.
- Keep tapping more names. Each selection appears as a photo strip along the top.
- Tap the small x on any photo in that strip to remove someone.
- Tap Create group at the bottom. The button shows how many people you have picked.
The group opens straight away, named after the people you added. Rename it later from the group’s own settings.
Use the Quick Shortcuts
Section titled “Use the Quick Shortcuts”Three shortcuts sit above the member list when you have not searched or selected anyone.

| New channel | An ongoing topic space, such as #sangeet-rehearsals or #fest-volunteers |
| New announcement | A one-way broadcast to everyone in the workspace |
- Tap New group, New channel, or New announcement.
- Follow the prompts on the next screen to name it and add people.
Find People Outside Your Workspace
Section titled “Find People Outside Your Workspace”How to get there: Connect > New chat > Find people on Velora
- Tap Find people on Velora.
- Search by name, phone number, or email address.
- Open a chat or send a connection request from the result.

Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”“Failed to start conversation” - The message could not be created, usually because of a dropped connection. Check your network and tap the person again.
“Failed to create group” - The group was not saved. Confirm you still have at least two people selected, then tap Create group again.
“Failed to load members” - Your workspace member list did not download. Tap Retry to try again.
“No members found” - Nobody in your workspace matches what you typed. Clear the search box with the x icon and check the spelling, or use Find people on Velora instead.
The Message button has disappeared - The button only shows when at least one person is selected. Tap a name to bring it back.
Only some people show up - The list covers the workspace you are currently viewing. Switch events or communities to see a different set of members.
