Chat Privacy Settings

Velora lets you control who can start a direct chat with you, so your inbox stays useful during a busy wedding week or fest season. These settings live in your messaging preferences and apply everywhere you chat in Velora.

How to get there: Connect > Messages > privacy icon > Message privacy

  1. Open the Connect tab and go to your Messages inbox.
  2. Tap the privacy icon in the top bar to open Message privacy.
  3. Under Who can message me?, tap the option you want:
    • Everyone - anyone on Velora can start a chat with you.
    • People from my events & communities - only members of events or communities you share.
    • Nobody - no one can start a new chat with you.
  4. Wait a moment for the choice to stick. Your selection saves on its own, so there is no separate save button.

A message request is a polite knock: someone you do not share an event with asks to chat, and you decide whether to accept.

  1. Scroll to Allow message requests.
  2. Tap the switch to turn it on or off.
  3. Leave it on if you want a chance to review strangers before replying.

If you have chosen Nobody, this switch is greyed out. Nobody can reach you, so there is nothing to request.

  • Using Velora Messages - how chats, requests and read receipts work.
  • Group chats for vendors and teams - keep decor, catering and sound in one thread.
  • Blocking and reporting - what to do about a chat that crosses the line.
  • Notification settings - stop your phone buzzing at 2 AM before the sangeet.
  • Team roles and permissions - share the coordination load.
  • Announcements to all attendees - one message instead of a hundred chats.
  • Your profile and visibility - control what guests see about you.

“Could not save. Try again.” - Your change did not reach Velora, usually because of a weak connection. Your previous setting stays in place. Check your network and tap the option again.

The switch or options will not respond - A save is still in progress. Options are briefly locked while your last change is being stored. Wait a second and try again.

“Allow message requests” is greyed out - You have selected Nobody under Who can message me?. Choose Everyone or People from my events & communities to use the switch.

A guest says they cannot message you - You are likely set to People from my events & communities and they are not on that event yet. Add them to the guest list, or switch requests on so they can knock.

The screen keeps spinning - Go back and reopen Message privacy once you are back on a stable connection.
