Messaging Home (Velora Connect)
Messaging Home (Velora Connect)
Section titled “Messaging Home (Velora Connect)”Velora Connect is the built-in messaging hub where all your event and community communications live. Think of it as a purpose-built messaging app specifically designed for event organisers and attendees — channels for broadcast, DMs for private conversations, group chats for coordination, and announcements for important updates.
How to Get There
Section titled “How to Get There”Home > Connect (bottom navigation bar)
- Open the Velora app.
- Tap Connect in the bottom navigation bar (the chat icon).
- The Messaging Home screen loads with your current workspace.
Workspace Selector
Section titled “Workspace Selector”At the top of the screen, you will see the current workspace name and type badge (Event or Community). Velora organises all messaging around workspaces.
Switching Workspaces
Section titled “Switching Workspaces”- Tap the workspace name or the dropdown arrow below the “Velora Connect” header.
- A bottom sheet appears listing all your workspaces (both events and communities).
- Tap the workspace you want to switch to.
- The channels, DMs, and groups refresh for the selected workspace.
The Messaging Home screen has five main tabs (six if you have archived conversations):
1. Announcements
Section titled “1. Announcements”Broadcast-only messages from workspace admins. See Announcements for details.
2. Channels
Section titled “2. Channels”Topic-based group conversations within the workspace. Channels are ideal for:
- Event logistics coordination (#logistics, #vendors, #transport)
- Community discussions (#general, #introductions, #help)
- Volunteer coordination (#volunteers, #assignments)
3. Direct Messages (DMs)
Section titled “3. Direct Messages (DMs)”One-on-one private conversations between you and another workspace member. Use DMs for:
- Private coordination with co-organisers
- Answering individual guest queries
- Vendor negotiations
4. Groups
Section titled “4. Groups”Multi-person group chats. Unlike channels, groups are created by any member and are typically smaller, more focused conversations:
- Wedding planning core team
- Event photography crew
- VIP guest coordination
5. Favourites
Section titled “5. Favourites”Conversations (channels, DMs, or groups) you have starred for quick access. Pin your most important conversations here so they are always one tap away.
6. Archived (appears only if you have archived items)
Section titled “6. Archived (appears only if you have archived items)”Conversations you have archived to declutter your inbox. The Archived tab only appears when you have at least one archived channel, DM, or group.
Creating New Conversations
Section titled “Creating New Conversations”Tap the + floating action button to start a new conversation. This takes you to the conversation creation screen where you can:
- Create a new channel
- Start a new direct message
- Create a group chat
- Compose an announcement (if you are an admin)

Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”I do not see any workspaces. You need to be a member of at least one event or community to see workspaces. Create an event or join a community first.
Messages are not arriving in real time. Check your internet connection. Velora Connect requires an active connection for real-time messaging. If you are on a spotty network, pull down to refresh the conversation list.
The Archived tab is not showing. The Archived tab only appears when you have at least one archived conversation. If you have not archived anything, the tab is hidden by design.
I cannot create a new channel. Channel creation may be restricted to workspace admins. Contact the event organiser or community admin to request a new channel.
Notifications badge shows a count but I cannot find the unread messages. Tap the three-dot menu and select “Notifications” to see all unread items. The unread count includes announcements, channel messages, and DMs across all conversations.
