Finding Your Pinned Messages in Event Chat

Section titled “Finding Your Pinned Messages in Event Chat”

Pinned messages are the short list of things nobody in a chat should have to scroll for: the venue address, the final menu count, the payment deadline. This article shows you how to open that list, keep it current, and remove pins you no longer need.

How to get there: Event Chat > Pinned Messages

  1. Open the event chat channel you’re working in.
  2. Tap the pin icon or the Pinned Messages option for that channel.
  3. Wait a moment while your pinned messages load.
  4. Scroll the list to browse every pinned message in that channel.

Each card shows who pinned or posted the message, the time it was sent, and the full message text, newest pins grouped together in one place.

How to get there: Event Chat > Pinned Messages

  1. Pull down anywhere on the list of pinned messages.
  2. Release to refresh.
  3. Check that a recently pinned message now appears.

Refreshing is handy when a co-organizer pins something while you already have the screen open, which happens constantly in the last week before a Diwali party or a college fest.

How to get there: Event Chat > Pinned Messages

  1. Find the message you want to remove from the list.
  2. Tap the small at the top-right of that message card.
  3. Watch the list reload without it.

The message itself stays in the chat history. Only the pin is removed, so nothing is lost from the conversation.

  • Using Event Chat Channels - where you pin messages in the first place.
  • Sending SMS Invitations - for details guests must see outside the app.
  • Managing Your Guest List - keep headcounts out of chat and in one list.
  • Inviting Team Members - decide who can pin and unpin.
  • Vendor Coordination Basics - pin arrival slots and contact numbers.
  • Notification Settings - control what pings you during crunch week.
  • Create Your First Event - start here if you’re brand new.

“Failed to load pinned messages” - Usually a weak connection. Tap Retry, or pull down to refresh once you’re back on a stable network.

“Failed to unpin” - The pin couldn’t be removed, often because the connection dropped mid-action. Refresh the list to see the current state, then try again.

“No pinned messages” - Nothing is pinned in this channel yet. Go back to the chat and pin a message to start the list.

The list looks out of date - Pull down to refresh. The list loads when you open the screen and doesn’t update on its own while you’re reading it.

A pinned message reappeared - Someone else with access to the channel pinned it again. Check with your co-organizers before removing it a second time.

Timestamps look confusing - Cards show the time of day only. For older pins, open the message in the chat to see the full date.
