Viewing a Person’s Profile in Your Family Tree

Section titled “Viewing a Person’s Profile in Your Family Tree”

Every person in your family tree has their own profile: a single place to see who they are, how they connect to everyone else, and the photos and stories attached to them. It is useful whether you are planning seating for a 400-guest wedding or just keeping the family record straight before Diwali.

How to get there: Dashboard > Family Tree > tap a person

  1. Open Family Tree from your dashboard.
  2. Find the person you want in the tree view.
  3. Tap their card to open their full profile.
  4. Use the back arrow at the top left to return to the tree.

How to get there: Dashboard > Family Tree > tap a person > tab row at the top

Each profile is organised into tabs across the top of the screen. On a phone, swipe the tab row sideways to reach the ones that are off-screen.

  1. Tap Overview for the person’s core details at a glance.
  2. Tap Timeline to see their events and milestones in date order.
  3. Tap Relationships to see how they connect to other people in the tree.
  4. Tap Cultural for community, ritual and tradition details, if your tree has this turned on.
  5. Tap Media & Stories for photographs, documents and written memories.
  6. Tap Privacy to see who can view this person’s information.
  7. Tap History to see what has changed on this profile and when.

How to get there: Dashboard > Family Tree > tap a person > Privacy

  1. Open the person’s profile.
  2. Tap Privacy.
  3. Review who currently has access to their details.

“Something went wrong loading this profile” - Usually a patchy connection. Tap Retry. If it keeps failing, close and reopen the app, then try again.

“This person is no longer part of this tree” - The person was removed, or they were moved into a different tree. Go back to the tree view and search for them there.

The tab row is cut off on my phone - Swipe the tab row left or right. All tabs are there; narrow screens just show a few at a time.

The Cultural tab is missing - Cultural details are switched off for that tree. Ask whoever manages the tree to enable them.

Nothing loads and the screen just spins - Check your connection, then go back and reopen the profile. Very large trees take a few seconds on slow networks.
