Add Person

Build out your family tree by adding one person at a time, with just their name or with a fuller profile. Handy when you are mapping the guest side of a wedding, or recording who belongs to which branch before invitations go out.

How to get there: Family Tree > open your tree > Add Person

  1. Tap Add Person from your family tree.
  2. Choose how this person relates to you: parent, child, spouse, sibling, or leave it unset for a standalone entry.
  3. Enter their First name.
  4. Enter their Family name if you know it.
  5. Enter a Birth year such as 1974.
  6. Tap Save.

You feel a short buzz and see a confirmation message, then you return to your tree with the new person included.

How to get there: Family Tree > open your tree > Add Person > Add more details

  1. Tap Add more details to expand the extra fields.
  2. Enter the name in Devanagari if you want it stored alongside the English spelling, for example सुनीता.
  3. Enter a Preferred name if the person goes by something other than their given name, such as a nickname elders use.
  4. Enter a Birthplace like Jaipur.
  5. Select Sex, Living status, and a Privacy level.
  6. Add any Notes worth keeping, such as which side of the family they sit on.
  7. Tap Save.

Tap Show less at any time to collapse the extra fields. Anything you already typed stays put.

Tap Cancel in the top corner, or use the back arrow. Nothing you typed is kept.

“Couldn’t save this person” - The save did not reach the server. Check your connection and tap Save again. If it keeps failing, close the form and reopen it so nothing half-typed is retried.

“Something went wrong” - The screen could not load properly. Go back to your tree and open Add Person again.

The Save button spins and nothing happens - The save is still in flight. Wait for it to finish rather than tapping again, so you do not create the same person twice.

Extra fields are missing - Tap Add more details to expand them. Cultural details show up only on trees where that option is enabled.

Devanagari text will not type - Your keyboard needs a Hindi or Marathi layout installed. Add one in your phone’s keyboard settings, then return to the form.

The person saved but looks unconnected - Open the tree and set the relationship from the tree view, then confirm the branch reads the way you expect.
