Discover and Browse Events

Find exciting events happening near you with smart search, filters, and personalized recommendations. Whether you’re looking for a wedding, festival celebration, or corporate meetup, this screen helps you discover exactly what you’re interested in.

What This Screen Does

The Discover Events screen shows all public events in your area, sortable by location, date, price, and more. It’s designed for event-goers who want to browse, search, and quickly see event details before deciding to attend.

Search for Events

Use the search bar to find events by name, organizer, or keywords.

How to get there: Tap the Discover Events tab at the bottom of your home screen.

1. Tap the search field at the top that says “Search”
2. Type the event name, keyword, or organizer name (e.g., “Diwali celebration”, “wedding”, “tech conference”)
3. Results update automatically as you type - no need to press a button
4. Scroll through matching events, or refine further using filters below

Search Tips

• Use broad keywords first (“Diwali” instead of “Diwali Gala 2024”)
• Search works on event names, descriptions, and organizer names
• Results are sorted by relevance and proximity to your location

Filter Events by Date, Location, and Price

Narrow down events using multiple filter criteria at once.

How to get there: Tap the Discover Events tab > Filter button (funnel icon).

1. Tap the Filter button (funnel icon) next to the search bar
2. In the bottom sheet that appears, select your filter preferences:
   • Date Range: Tap to pick start and end dates
   • Location: Enter a city or address
   • Price: Choose All, Free, or Paid events
3. Tap Apply Filters to see matching results
4. Active filters appear as colored chips below the search bar

Filtering for Indian Events

• Filter by Free to find Diwali celebrations and community events
• Set a Date Range for upcoming festival seasons (Diwali, Holi, weddings)
• Use Location to find events within walking distance or a specific city
• Combine filters: e.g., Free + This Weekend + Your City = perfect community event

Next Best Action

After finding an event you like:

• Interested? View event details to see full description, venue, and tickets
• Found it! Buy tickets or RSVP for free events

Clear Filters and Search

Remove filters or search terms to start fresh.

How to get there: On the Discover Events screen, look for active filter chips.

To remove one filter:

1. Find the colored filter chip (e.g., “₹500–₹1000”, “This Weekend”)
2. Tap the × on that chip

To clear all filters at once:

1. Tap the Filter button (funnel icon)
2. In the bottom sheet, tap Clear All
3. Tap Apply Filters

To clear search:

1. Tap the search field
2. Tap the × icon to delete your search term

Pro Move

Clear filters when you’re not finding what you want. Sometimes the perfect event is hiding under settings you forgot you set!

Refresh Events or Load More

Get fresh event listings or scroll to see additional events.

How to get there: On the Discover Events screen, scroll the event list.

To refresh:

• Swipe down on the event list with your finger (pull-to-refresh gesture)
• Tap Retry if you see an error banner

To see more events:

• Scroll down to the bottom of the event list
• New events load automatically as you approach the bottom
• You’ll see a loading spinner while events fetch

No Events? Here’s Why

• Empty result? Your search term or filters are too specific - try clearing one or two
• Network issue? Check your internet connection and tap Retry
• Truly no events? Your city may have no public events posted yet - check back soon!

View Your Location Status

See whether location services are helping you find nearby events.

How to get there: On the Discover Events screen, look at the top right of the header.

• Spinning circle = Location is being fetched
• No indicator = Location is active and events are sorted by distance
• “Location access” error? Events still load, but may not be sorted by proximity - tap the error banner and enable location in Settings to see nearby events first

Why Location Matters

Location helps show events closest to you first. It’s optional - you can browse all public events without enabling it, but you’ll miss the “distance” sorting.

Troubleshooting

“No Internet Connection”: Your phone isn’t connected to WiFi or mobile data. Enable mobile data or connect to WiFi, then tap Retry.

“Server Error”: Velora’s servers are temporarily unavailable. Wait a moment and pull down to refresh, or try again in 5 minutes.

Search or filters aren’t working: The app is still loading data. Wait 5 seconds and try again. If it persists, restart the app.

Events list is empty: Either no public events are posted yet, or your filters are too strict. Tap Clear Filters and try a broader search.

Can’t see event distances: Enable location access in your phone’s Settings > [App Name] > Location. Restart the app after enabling.

Event details won’t load when I tap a card: The event may have been deleted or archived. Pull down to refresh the list and try another event.
